PROJECT

We are supported by Medilife of Houston, Inc. a non profit organization who sponsor a myriad of programs for the area fire stations.  In honor of the many members of the fire departments who have been deployed, they are willing to handle the donations and contributions.  All donations will go through them to assist the SingForPeace program in the mailing of packages to troops overseas. We are issuing a Call For Action to let our troops know they are appreciated, respected and admired.  We strongly encourage you to participate in this program. This web site provides information on how to prepare and send a CARE package and to provide a "touch of home." That is what I hope to accomplish. If you care to contribute please make a tax-deductible donation to Medilife of Houston. Inc. to help send personal items to our troops overseas.  All monies will go direct to troop needs or postage to mail Care Packages.

PROGRESS REPORT
In a continuous and on-going effort, as of the end of 2006, SingForPeace has reached over 75,000 young men and women, fighting for the freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted.  Not only has my team been personally been active in achieving this phenomenal task, but there have also been many churches, businesses, individuals, scout troops, schools, and other organizations that have willingly and eagerly joined in the efforts.  The soldiers say that when a care package arrives it’s like Christmas to them; that seems little enough for us to do to bring such pleasure to those risking their lives for our freedoms.  We receive the most heart-warning emails and letters from the troops to express their appreciate for being remembered.

My twin grandsons said that the most important thing they received were the  Gator Neck Warmers.   As of June 2006, my teams have made and mailed approximately 24,000 neck warmers or coolers in our on-going support of the Gator project.  My theory of sending goodies is that a candy bar will last two minutes, but a neck warmer will last all winter.  Of course, candy and other such items are always welcome, but these neck warmers are a specialty item which the soldiers are welcoming with gratitude and thanks.  Those who see them or receive them, often email me with a request to please send their squad some or to send some for “the rest of the guys.”

We are asking that you share this web site with everyone  on your emailing list and request they send packages and that they also forward our web address to everyone on their mailing list.  There should be no reason why our young men and women who are living in a hostile environment should do without the small things that we are taking for granted everyday.  A clean pillowcase,  hard candy or an individual size box of cereal is a major moment for many of them.

Individuals can organize their church members, co-workers, civic club, organization or youth group to send at least one small package for an unknown soldier. Share the cost and share the responsibility, but, please, do your part to Support Our Troops.

The initial group who supported me when I began the project to send packages to the troops are a singing organization of which I'm a member.  Our mutual interest is music, but we are all concerned about our young men and women in uniform.  So, when you are having a bad day, whistle a happy tune, hum a few bars, or sing a song. Singing is good therapy. It relieves tension and is good for the soul. Try it, you'll see what I mean. I believe that TOGETHER, we can, SING FOR PEACE.

Sincerely,

Margaret
